Baseball: Sun Valley Poly’s Schwal won’t coach next season

Sun Valley Poly baseball Coach Chuck Schwal said Friday he was resigning as coach to take some time away from the game.

Schwal took over from Jerry Cord in 1993 and helped Poly become the dominant team in the Sunset Six League. Poly reached the City final in 1996 and 1999.

Assistant Andy Montes will be one of the candidates to replace Schwal.
