Fullerton police have arrested a teacher at Sunny Hills High School after discovering illicit drugs and an unloaded shotgun in his car in the school parking lot.

Gregory Abbott, 31, of Placentia has taught history at the school for seven years, police said in a statement. He was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possessing a weapon on a school campus and possessing narcotics for sale.

Abbott has also been a cross-country coach at the school for three years. Last fall, his teams were excluded from postseason activity because of an illegal practice.
