There’s a run on Southland products in the second round of the amateur draft. It started with pitcher Tanner Scheppers, a former Dana Hills standout who pitches for Fresno State. He was taken No. 48 by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Then outfielder Anthony Gose of Bellflower went to the Philadelphia Phillies at No. 51. Outfielder Cutter Dykstra of Westlake was chosen by the Milwaukee Brewers at No. 54. Outfielder Shane Peterson of Long Beach State, a graduate of Chaparral High, went No. 59 to the St. Louis Cardinals. Pitcher-infielder Tyler Chatwood from Redlands East Valley went to the Angels at No. 74.
