If you can’t bare your chest in the classroom, you shouldn’t be able to bare your chest at indoor sporting events.

That’s the reasoning behind a recommendation made last month by the sportsmanship committee of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Assn. that would ban fans with bare or painted chests from indoor games. It would be the first of its kind in the country but would not extend to outdoor games.

‘People say, ‘Hey, we are attempting to take the fun out of high school sports.’ That isn’t the intention at all,’ said Tom Shafranski, assistant director of the association, who is concerned that high school students are modeling the behavior of fans at college and professional games. ‘Many times we get some cross-dressing, when boys are wearing bikini tops that some people find to be offensive.’

Bikini tops on boys? Well, now they’ve gone too far.
