Konrad Thieme, a catcher from Sonoma State by way of Westlake High and Moorpark College (I had originally listed Thieme as being from Moorpark High), was selected by the Florida Marlins Friday in Round 23 with the 688th overall pick of the Major League Baseball first-year player draft.

Jon Bravo, left-handed pitcher from Azusa Pacific University by way of Chino High and Mt. San Antonio College, was chosen 695th by the St. Louis Cardinals, and Charles Huggins, a left-handed pitcher from UC Santa Barbara from Redwood, Calif., was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays with the No. 699 pick.

Brandon Maurer, a right-handed pitcher from Orange Lutheran High who has committed to Long Beach State, was taken by the Seattle Mariners with the No. 702 pick.

If I’ve missed any of our local players who have been drafted out of college, let me know!
