Here are a couple Ventura County players who’ve been receiving a lot of collegiate fan mail this spring:

  • Now that RB Chris Brown knows where he wants to go to college, is Newbury Park teammate Jackson Powell going to make his college decision anytime soon? Well, heaven knows it isn’t because of a lack of offers. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound defensive end has them from Arizona, Cal, Oregon State, San Diego State and Washington. And Newbury Park offensive coordinator Kevin Smith told Rivals.com he thinks more big colleges will come to the table in the months ahead.
  • St. Bonaventure defensive back Xavier Ramos, one of the unsung heroes of the Seraphs’ 2007 Division III state bowl run, has received scholarship offers Oregon and Army, according to Scout.com. Ramos figures to play a key role once again for the Seraphs this fall, after recording 44 tackles as a junior.
