Edison is holding an event Saturday at DG Salon in Huntington Beach to benefit junior lineman Luke Gane, who was recently diagnosed with aplastic anemia.

The disorder occurs when bone marrow does not produce sufficient new cells to replenish blood cells and often requires a bone marrow transplant. Luke is scheduled to receive marrow harvested from his brother Jacob early next month.

Luke’s teammates will gather Saturday for a ‘Locks for Luke’ event in which they will shave their heads to help raise funds for the Gane family. One player’s mother has offered to cut off hair that stretches to her waist if she can net a $1,000 donation.

Anyone interested in contributing is asked to bring $20 to the salon located at 22015 Bushard St. The salon’s phone number is (714) 964-5202.
