While teammates such as Michael Lee and Darrell Scott took their respective turns at basking in the spotlight for St. Bonaventure over the course of the last three years, Patrick Hall patiently waited his turn, knowing full well his time to take over the leadership role would eventually come.

And that time is now. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound senior running back and defensive back has his first opportunity to prove he’s worthy of carrying the torch on Friday when the Seraphs play Santa Margarita at Ventura High with the kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. And I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hall put on an absolute show in his debut.

‘We’re talking about the top athlete in America, so if Patrick is not ready to come out and play well for us, he’ll never be ready,’’ Seraphs Coach Todd Therrien said. ‘He does so many things well, and when you have a player like that, you have to figure out ways to get him the ball. He’ll get plenty of touches.’’

He orally committed to USC back in early February and was recruited because of his unique ability to play a number of different positions at a very high level. So, it will be interesting to see if Santa Margarita can do anything to stop a motivated Hall. Or, at the very least, do something to slow him down.
