Alex Mascarenas turned a 15-yard pass into a 52-yard touchdown with 2:51 left in the second quarter, enabling Mission Viejo to pull within 14-7 of Tesoro.

Mascarenas, who has committed to UCLA, broke a tackle at the 38 and then turned on the speed to get into the end zone. It was an important score because the Diablos had struggled throughout the first half, unable to protect quarterback Allan Bridgford.
