If Oaks Chrisian (7-0) is going to reach the CIF state football championship bowl games, it will need a little help.

St. Bonaventure (6-1) still is in the driver’s seat. All the Seraphs have to do is win out and their tougher schedule will result in a Division III bowl invitation.

Oaks Chrisian has no one to blame but itself. The Lions need to strengthen their schedule, and they are working at it for next season.

Negotiations are under way to add St. Bonventure and Alemany to the nonleague schedule and drop Diamond Ranch and Chaminade.

But it won’t help when decisions are made in December. The best hope is for St. Bonaventure to get upset in the Northern Division playoffs by Moorpark, Thousand Oaks or Valencia. I don’t see it happening.
