Football: Lakewood leads, 21-7, at the half

Greg Portis will probably forever wish he had this play back.

Servite had the ball, facing second and goal at the Lakewood five-yard line late in the second quarter, when the Friars running back took a handoff one way, cut back another and kept zigzagging in the backfield.

He even faked as if he was going to pass before finally getting smacked and losing the ball. Lakewood lineman Kosta Kritikos recovered, thwarting a big opportunity for Servite.

The Lancers take a 21-7 lead into halftime and are pretty much dominating. Jerry Stone has 77 yards rushing in 14 carries and quarterback Jesse Scroggins has completed eight of nine passes for 88 yards.

Portis has only 17 yards in nine carries after the busted play. Lakewood will get the ball to start the third quarter.
