Football: Lakewood leads Poly, 10-3, at half

Lakewood has looked superior in about every category so far in its Pac-5 Division semifinal against top-seeded Long Beach Poly, taking a 10-3 halftime lead over the Jackrabbits at Cerritos College.
Jerry Stone has 99 yards in 12 carries, more than Poly running backs Melvin Richardson and Daveon Barner combined. They have a cumulative 43 yards in eight carries.
Jesse Scroggins has completed seven of 13 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown for Lakewood, better numbers than those of Poly’s Morgan Fennell (two of five passing for 27 yards).
Poly missed a field goal and put together only one impressive drive in which it settled for a 45-yard field goal. The Jackrabbits couldn’t capitalize on a four-yard punt by Lakewood, missing the field goal on their ensuing drive.
Lakewood has already enjoyed one wild celebration on this field in the playoffs after knocking off fourth-seeded Servite in the first round in overtime. Will the Lancers go two for two?
