Santa Monica has made a positive impression so far in the Redondo tournament, advancing to tonight’s championship game against Fairfax with a 72-53 victory in the semifinals over Gardena Serra. Jerome Hatchett scored 18 points. Fairfax defeated Pacific Hills, 80-62, in the other semifinals.

Santa Ana Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight picked up his 800th career victory when the Monarchs defeated Downey, 89-46, in the Loara tournament. David Wear scored 16 points and Gary Franklin Jr. had 15 points. Mater Dei will play Anaheim Canyon in tonight’s championship game.

Santa Margarita received 31 points from Daniel Munoz in a 54-49 victory over Atascadero in the Morro Bay tournament.

Golden Valley defeated Chaminade, 73-65, to advance to the championship game of the Simi Valley tournament. Trevor Wiseman scored 22 points and had nine rebounds for Golden Valley, which will meet the host Pioneers in tonight’s final. Simi Valley defeated Valencia, 77-65. Brad Lewis scored 30 points for Simi Valley. Sophomore Lonnie Jackson had 32 points for Valencia.

Agoura will play Burbank in the championship game of the Burbank tournament. Stephen Hicks scored 24 points for Agoura in its 77-74 semifinal victory over L.A. University.

The Westchester tournament final matches the host Comets and Leuzinger. The third-place game should be fun to watch, with Taft taking on Compton Dominguez. Bishop Montgomery defeated Windward, 62-61, in a consolation game.
