Football: CIF Division II state bowl update

Three quarters down, one to go in the CIF Division II state bowl game and Stockton St. Mary’s is putting forth a spirited effort against San Diego Cathedral, trailing only 23-20 with 12 minutes remaining.

Cathedral kicked a field goal to build on its 20-14 halftime lead, but St. Mary’s answered when Cody Vaz threw his third touchdown pass of the night. The extra point attempt was blocked.

Vaz has completed 24 of 33 passes for 254 yards. Tyler Gaffney has 243 yards and three scores in 25 carries for Cathedral.
