It was all Mater Dei in the first quarter of the featured game of the Nike Extravaganza.

Tyler Lamb scored five points and Connor Hughes, Travis Wear and David Wear had four points apiece for the Monarchs, who held an 18-8 lead over Newark (N.J.) St. Benedict’s Prep in the matchup of the Nos. 1-2 teams in the country according to USA Today.

Lamb made a nifty finger roll seconds before the quarter ended to give the Monarchs their biggest lead.

Sophomore guard Tavon Sledge had six points for St. Benedict’s.
