Girls’ Basketball: Harvard-Westlake wins by a hair

Junior forward Nicole Hung made her only field goal of the second half with under one minute left, catapulting Harvard-Westlake to a 59-57 victory over Pacific Hills tonight at Mater Dei High in the Division IV-A title game.

Top-seeded Pacific Hills went on an 8-1 run early in the third quarter to gain a seven-point lead with 2:30 left in the third. Harvard-Westlake rallied back late in the third quarter and early in the fourth to tie the game at 54 apiece with under three minutes left.

Junior forward Sydney Haydel scored 20 points, and both Hung and junior guard Nicole Nesbit had 16 for Harvard-Westlake.

Senior guard Joanna Miller scored 27 points, senior guard Ariel Dale had 14, and freshman center Asia Smith had 11 for Pacific Hills.
