College scholarships could be won or lost Saturday when 200 of the top junior and senior players from the Southland participate in the Under Armour and Scouts Inc. Combine Series at Santa Monica College.

Players will be ranked by talent evaluators and recruiting experts as they complete NFL-style combine drills including the 20-yard shuttle, vertical jump, 40-yard dash and broad jump. The camp is open only to invitees who were selected by Scouts Inc.

Providing training tips and guidance throughout the event will be former NFL players Deion Sanders, Kevin Mathis, George Hegamin and Omar Stoutmire. Coaches at the event will include Duke Rousse, Sanders’ personal trainer, and former New York Jets Coach Noel Mazzone.

Among those players scheduled to participate are lineman Calvin Tonga of Arlington, linebacker Brandon Brown of Corona Centennial, wide receiver Kenneth Scott of Colony, quarterback Bryan Bennett, defenseive end Hroniss Grasu and wide receiver Blake Stanton of Crespi, defensive tackle George Uko of Don Lugo, wide receiver Christian Thomas of Highland, wide receiver DeShawn Beck of L.A. Jordan, offensive lineman Giovanni DiPoalo of St. Bonaventure, running back D.J. Morgan of Taft and defensive tackle Kirfi Taula of Servite.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
