Boyd considered top dual-threat athlete

Two of the players selected to CalHiSports’ all-state grid-hoop first team are headed to USC. And they both have said they expect to play basketball for the Trojans as well as football.

Los Angeles Jordan athlete extraordinaire James Boyd, a defensive end who also played forward for the Bulldogs, was selected the top dual sport athlete. Also on the first team is future Trojan teammate Kevin Greene, who registered 28 sacks his senior season and snagged 20 rebounds for Sacred Heart Cathedral during its Division III state championship victory over Ocean View.

Santa Barbara’s Roberto Nelson and Serrano’s Jamaal Franklin were also selected to the first team, Los Alamitos’ Clark Evans and Twentynine Palms’ Montreal Harris were on the second team and Citrus Hills’ Caleb Herring was on the third team.
