Swine flu postpones events in Texas

The University Interscholastic League in Texas has postponed all high school athletic events in the state until May 11 based on recommendations from public health officials in the wake of a death from swine flu Monday in Houston, according to MaxPreps.

A 2-year-old boy died following a trip to Mexico with his family, becoming the first reported fatality in the United States attributed to the disease.

The baseball and softball seasons have been suspended and the regional track championships have been canceled. The state track meet scheduled for May 13-14 will proceed as scheduled.
