With 16 returning starters, including highly touted receivers Robert Woods and George Farmer, Gardena Serra was already going to be a force to reckon with next season. Now the Cavaliers might be able to challenge mighty Oaks Christian in the Northwest Division.

That’s because prolific Los Alamitos wide receiver Paul Richardson and Palisades quarterback Conner Preston have transferred to Serra, giving the Cavaliers an abundance of talent at the skill positions. Richardson, who has committed to UCLA, caught 48 passes last season for 780 yards and nine touchdowns. Preston, who will be a junior, completed 59.3% of his passes for 2,026 yards and 16 touchdowns with 10 interceptions during his sophomore year.

‘We’re happy that these guys have come to our school,’ Serra Coach Scott Altenberg said. ‘We have great receivers as is, so Paul showing up is adding to guys we already have.’

Woods caught 81 passes for 1,378 yards and 19 touchdowns last season and Farmer had 31 catches for 523 yards and seven touchdowns.
