Saying he ‘loves the direction they’re heading right now,’ Brea Olinda sophomore big man Kyle Caudill today committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils.

‘They’re going up really fast and I wanted to be a part of that the next couple of years,’ said the 6-foot-11 standout.

Caudill said UCLA was a close second and that California, Stanford, Oklahoma, Wake Forest and USC were also heavily recruiting him. Is there a chance he might change his mind?

‘I don’t think so,’ Caudill said. ‘I can’t envision a better situation.’

Strong family ties played a part in Caudill’s decision. His uncle Clint Myers is the Sun Devils’ softball coach and his cousin Casey Myers--Clint’s son--played baseball there. Caudill said he has made the trip to Tempe, Ariz., three times a year since he was 5.

Another factor in his decision was the commitment of Sacramento High combo guard Josiah Turner, who has played with Caudill on the club circuit. Caudill said he looks forward to playing with Turner in college.
