Down to its last out with two on in the bottom of the 12th inning, fourth-seeded Granada Hills pulled out a 2-1 victory over fifth-seeded Carson today in a City Section quarterfinal playoff game. Valentina Salinas hit a run-scoring single and Joanna Meir scored the winning run because of a fielding error.

Granada Hills pitcher Rebecca Patton struck out 19 and allowed five hits. Carson’s Audrey Devoe broke a scoreless tie in the top of the 12th with a single to right field, driving in pitcher Crystal Maas. The Colts finished the season 24-10.

Granada Hills (27-6) will get a chance to avenge last season’s 2-0 semifinal loss to top-seeded San Pedro when the teams face off again in a semifinal at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at San Pedro. Seventh-seeded Chatsworth will play at sixth-seeded Wilmington Banning in the other semifinal.
