Boys’ track: Crenshaw pulls away in 4x100 relay

It was a good start for DeAnthony Thomas at the City Section preliminary track meet.

Crenshaw’s 4x100 relay team, anchored by Thomas, ran the fourth-fastest time in the state this year, finishing in 41.36 seconds. Thomas still has to run in the 4x400, 100 and 200 meters.

The Cougars’ time was one-one hundredth of a second slower than they ran at the Coliseum League finals. Gardena Serra ran the fastest time in the state this year in 41.15.

Dorsey was disqualified because of an illegal handoff.

The other qualifiers for next week’s City championship meet were Birmingham (42.29), Taft (42.70), West Adams Prep (43.67), Washington Prep (43.11), Westchester (43.18), El Camino Real (43.39) and Narbonne (43.64).

Birmingham’s girls won the 4x100 relay in 47.67, followed by Washington Prep (48.39) and Carson (48.49).
