Softball: Local invited to attend USA National Team Selection Camp

Taylor Schlopy is one of 10 athletes who have accepted invitations to join 27 previously selected athletes at the selection camp for the women’s national softball team scheduled for June 8-12 in Chula Vista, Calif.

Schlopy attended Oaks Christian High and is in her sophomore year at Georgia, where she is batting .420 with 12 home runs, 36 runs batted in and a team-best 64 runs. Schlopy leads the nation in runs per game (1.28) and is an All-Southeast Region and All-Southeastern Conference first-team selection.

The schedule for the U.S. national team features several international events, including the World Cup of Softball, which has the top four finishers from the 2008 Olympics.
