The boys’ 4x100 relay championship Saturday should make for some high drama.

Gardena Serra posted the fastest qualifying time in today’s preliminary heats, with the foursome of Marcus Johnson, Devan Spann, Anthony Carpenter and Robert Woods finishing in 41.09 seconds. Long Beach Poly finished second in 41.16 and L.A. Cathedral, thanks in large part to Randall Carroll’s strong finish, came in third in 41.48.

Other qualifiers from the Southland were Orange Lutheran (41.70) and Crenshaw (41.84).
