Claremont junior Kori Carter has the fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles in the nation this year; she just didn’t have the fastest time in Clovis today.

That distinction went to Etiwanda senior Monisha Davis, who finished in 13.59 seconds to win her heat at the state track and field preliminaries. Carter won her heat in 13.99 and Diamond Ranch’s Karynn Dunn also qualified in 14.17.

Other qualifiers from the Southland for Saturday’s championship were Long Beach Poly’s Melia Cox (13.67), Carter’s Shanice Stewart (14.16) and Valley Christian’s Hannah Goranson (14.33).
