Mission Viejo was among 12 high schools nationwide that had two players selected in the 2009 NFL draft, according to information released today by USA Football.

Former Diablos quarterback Mark Sanchez was picked in the first round by the New York Jets and defensive end Nick Reed was taken in the seventh round by the Seattle Seahawks.

California had 32 players selected in the draft, second behind only Texas, which had 37. In a bit of a surprise, no players were drafted from Long Beach Poly, known in recent years for producing more NFL players than any other high school in the country.
