Football: Loyola wins, 28-18

It’s going to be a headache for teams trying to stop Loyola running backs Jared Baker and Anthony Barr, who combined for 236 yards in leading the Cubs to a 28-18 victory over Mira Costa tonight at L.A. Valley College.

Barr finished with 125 yards and two touchdowns in 30 carries and Baker had 111 yards and a touchdown in nine carries. The duo present different styles, with Barr featuring a punishing attack and Baker possessing superlative speed.

The presence of Baker allows Barr to rest some since Barr also plays defense and returned an interception 87 yards for a touchdown tonight. They were alternating carries on several drives.
