Football: ECR shows how to run the ball

Using the Bloomington double wing formation, Woodland Hills El Camino Real is a City Section team that is showing others how to run the ball. The Conquistadores knocked off Newhall Hart, 33-28, behind running backs Rashon Harper (110 yards rushing) and sophomore Kawan Rally (84 yards, three touchdowns).

El Camino Real attempted four passes the entire game.

‘Our goal is to open it up a bit,’ Coach Kevin Williams said.

And what is the definitiion for opening up the passing game for a double wing team?

‘Ten times is probably wide open,’ Williams said.

Hart Coach Mike Herrington said he was impressed with the Conquistadores.

‘El Camino was good,’ he said. ‘They are 10 times better than last year.’

And what player made the biggest impression?

The sophomore running back, Rally.

‘He’s really good,’ Herrington said.
