Here are the top games to watch for Week 1 of the high school football season.

On Thursday night at Placentia Valencia, Los Angeles Jordan takes its wide-open offense to play Anaheim Esperanza.

I’m headed to Mission Viejo on Friday night to watch the Diablos take on Anthony Barr and Los Angeles Loyola. It will be Bob Johnson matching wits with Jeff Kearin.

Long Beach Poly will play Ventura St. Bonaventure at Ventura High. Poly needs to improve off its Zero Week loss to Anaheim Servite.

Servite faces a challenge from Fresno Clovis West at Cerritos College.

Norco makes its season debut traveling to Los Angeles Crenshaw.

The big game in the Inland Empire has Corona Centennial hosting Temecula Chaparral.

Also, San Diego Parker will try to end the 44-game winning streak of San Juan Capistrano St. Margaret’s.

Other games of note: Compton Dominguez at La Puente Bishop Amat, Encino Crespi at Birmingham, Tesoro vs. Fountain Valley at Orange Coast College and La Verne Damien at Bellflower St. John Bosco.
