Mission Hills Alemany Coach Dean Herrington had a Rick Neuheisel moment that was captured on TV Friday night against Westlake Village Oaks Christian.

Herrington started to chew out his junior quarterback, Vernon Adams, on the sideline. But after the camera had gone away, Herrington learned it wasn’t his quarterback’s fault that a pass fell incomplete.

‘I didn’t realize he made a perfect audible,’ Herrington said. ‘The receiver didn’t hear it.’

Adams was probably the best quarterback on the field, completing eight of 13 passes for 172 yards and no interceptions in his varsity debut, a loss to Oaks Christian.
