Proponents of the A-11 offense will be pleased to know that beginning today, selected games featuring teams that run the wacky scheme can be found at a11network.com. The live streaming games are produced by kbcsports.com in San Diego.

Tonight’s game features Piedmont (1-0) versus San Ramon Dougherty Valley (2-0) at 5 p.m. Piedmont’s coaches were the ones who devised the scheme two years ago. The National Federation of State High School Assns. ruled earlier this year that the A-11 could not continue as originally formulated, forcing coaches who run the scheme to scrap certain parts of it such as having offensive linemen wear jersey numbers that would make them eligible to receive a pass.

Saddleback Valley Christian’s Gary Chambers, the only coach in the Southland bold enough to run the A-11 last season, said there were only three plays he ran out of the configuration last year that would be considered illegal under the new rules. Chambers is running the A-11 only part of the time this season. His Warriors split their first two games, posting a 44-14 victory over California Riverside School for the Deaf last week after opening with a 28-21 loss to Bell-Jeff.
