This week, ground will be broken and fences torn down as North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake launches a $500,000 project to revamp Franklin Field in Encino, where the school has a long-term lease to play its baseball games.

New fencing, new playing surface, new outfield configurations, new dugouts _ those are just the beginning of the makeover, according to Harvard-Westlake Coach Matt LaCour.

How much gets done before the season begins depends on the weather. But that’s just a start, with more work to be done.
