It was a day to remember for Emily Tubert of Burbank Burroughs. She shot a five-under-par 67 today at Talega Golf Club in San Clemente to win the CIF individual girls’ golf championship by two strokes over Veronica Valerio of Temecula Valley.

‘I felt relaxed,’ Tubert said. ‘I took it shot by shot. It was pretty cool. To come away with the trophy is a great honor.’

Tubert signed a letter of intent with the University of Arkansas on Wednesday. She’s the two-time Pacific League champion. She qualified for Monday’s WSGA Southern California championships in Murrieta.
