Boys’ basketball: Yannick Atanga is ineligible

Ojai Besant Hill, the defending Southern Section Division VI-A champion, will have to start the basketball season without its top player, Santa Clara-bound Yannick Atanga. The 6-foot-6 native of Cameroon is ineligible because he turned 19 before June 15 of his senior year.
He’s expected to make an appeal before a CIF hearing board in an attempt to gain eligibility for this season.
