The brutally blunt Don Markham is officially back on the job as Rialto’s football coach as of Wednesday night after being unanimously approved by the Rialto Unified School District board, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.

‘I think it will get turned around,’ Markham told the newspaper of a program that has gone 1-9 in four of the last five seasons.

Markham made waves in 2001 when he called his players ‘a bunch of jerks’ in an interview with The Times. He has 314 career victories and has won five Southern Section titles. He previously coached at Rialto in 2000-01, guiding the Knights to the only winning seasons in school history and the only playoff berths.
