Football: Baltau takes over at St. Margaret’s

Rod Baltau, a former Canyon Country Canyon quarterback who served as an assistant coach at San Juan Capistrano St. Margaret’s under Harry Welch, has been promoted to head coach. He replaces Welch, who resigned to become the coach at Santa Margarita.

St. Margaret’s has won four consecutive Southern Section championships. Baltau has been an assistant at St. Margaret’s since 2007.

Baltau was a quarterback at Canyon during the Cowboys’ 46-game win streak in the 1980s.
