Mater Dei (24-1), ranked No. 3 in the nation by Maxpreps, defeated No. 7 Chicago Young (22-1), 71-58, tonight at the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei.

Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis scored 22 points, Jordan Adams had 21 and Jessica Duarte added 19 for Mater Dei. Kiana Johnson led Young with 19 points, and Linnae Harper added 12.

The game didn’t start until 9 p.m., 11 p.m. Chicago time, and Young played last night. The Dolphins’ fatigue became apparent in the second half when they let a four-point halftime deficit grow to 12 points at the end of the third. The Dolphins closed the gap to within six points halfway through the fourth but couldn’t rally back.
