Gardena Serra holds an 18-12 lead after the first quarter of its Southern Section Division 3A final against Compton Centennial.

Guard Keith Shamburger has been hitting his open shots for the Cavaliers.

Deonte Burton of Centennial is starting to become more active on offense. He had a three-pointer and a couple of free throws. He’s going to need to shoot more for the Apaches to prevail.

Serra keeps coming with wave after wave of athletes off the bench, some of whom were members of its 15-0 championship football team. The Cavaliers have depth, quickness and size.
