Boys’ basketball: Who does Snoop Dogg root for?

It could be the ultimate test of allegiances for Snoop Dogg tonight as his beloved Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits play Crenshaw in the first round of the Southern California regional playoffs.

Snoop, a.k.a. Calvin Broadus, attended Poly but also has a special affinity for Crenshaw because nine Cougars football players from the team that advanced to a state championship bowl game last year played in the Snoop Youth Football League.

Broadus wore a Crenshaw cap at the Cougars’ bowl game against Concord De La Salle and even performed an impromptu televised halftime rap in honor of his new favorite team. But he also has peppered his songs with numerous references to Long Beach.

So maybe if Broadus attends tonight’s game he’ll pull the old father-who-has-a-son-playing-for-each-team routine and sit on one side of the stands for the first half and the other for the second half.
