An upset is brewing.

After trailing 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, sixth-seeded Canyon Springs went on a 7-0 run at the top of the second to take a 25-23 halftime lead over third-seeded Santa Monica in a Southern California Regional Division I quarterfinal on Thursday at Santa Monica High.

The Vikings didn’t get on the scoreboard in the second quarter until the 3:55 mark after Thea Lemberger hit a three-pointer to lift the Vikings to a three point deficit at 19-16.

Lemberger leads Santa Monica (27-6) with nine points. Breanna Cheatum has eight points for Canyon Springs (27-4).
