Baseball: It’s a Royal-Oxnard tourney final

The championship game of the Royal tournament is set after the host Highlanders and Oxnard each won their semifinal games on Friday. They will face off Saturday at 7 p.m. at Birmingham.

Tyler Abbott threw six innings of no-hit ball and Ydmar Gomez added another inning of no-hit ball to lift Royal (4-0) past Culver City, 10-0.

Oxnard (3-1) defeated Montclair Prep, 2-1. Jayson Balades struck out 10 for Oxnard.

San Juan Capistrano JSerra (4-1) defeated Corona, 11-3. Clay Williamson hit a home run and Reed Reilly didn’t allow any earned runs in four innings on the mound. Austin Hedges and Bret Dahlson had two hits apiece.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (2-2) defeated Verdugo Hills, 9-5. Freshman Jack Hartman struck out one, walked none and allowed six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Arleta defeated San Fernando, 9-4. Down, 4-1, with two outs in the seventh, Arleta put together five consecutive hits to tie the game and scored five runs in the eighth to win. Ryan Sanchez had a three-run triple.

Redlands East Valley will play Chino Saturday in the championship game of the Chino tournament. East Valley (4-0) defeated Damien, 12-3.
