Boys’ basketball: Mater Dei, Taft tied at 33

Every time Taft gets a little separation from Mater Dei in their Southern California Division I regional semifinal, the Monarchs come roaring back.

The Toreadors led, 33-28, when Mater Dei scored the next five points on a free throw and driving layup by Gary Franklin Jr. and a pair of free throws by Keala King.

There are less than two minutes left in the second quarter and the score is tied at 33.
