After nearly two months of delay because of weather and other problems, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake will finally play its first baseball game on its new $700,000 field Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. against Los Angeles Loyola, with a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. revealing the name for the facility.

Built at the Franklin Field complex in Encino, the field has new fencing, new dugouts, new grass, a new scoreboard and new batting cages.

UPDATE: The field has been named the O’Malley Family Field, in honor of the O’Malley family that once owned the Dodgers. Peter O’Malley had two sons graduate from Harvard-Westlake.There were nearly 80 donors for the project, and the lead gift was given by the O’Malley family.

‘When we needed a gift to put us over the top, Peter O’Malley and his sons were there for us, as they have been in the past,’ Harvard-Westlake President Thomas Hudnut said.
