Baseball: Harrison’s ninth-inning home run lifts Orange Lutheran

Chase Harrison hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning to help Orange Lutheran defeat Anaheim Servite, 6-4, Saturday and keep the Lancers tied for first place in the Trinity League.

Dillon Bryant went four for five to lead Orange Lutheran (20-5, 11-3), which is not only competing for a league title but a possible No. 1 seed in the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs. The Lancers end the regular season next week with games Monday and Wednesday against Santa Margarita.

San Juan Capistrano JSerra (18-7, 7-6) kept alive its playoff hopes with a 4-2, nine-inning victory over Bellflower St. John Bosco. Bret Dahlson hit a home run in the ninth. Corey Miller threw five no-hit innings. Koby Gauna pitched eight innings for St. John Bosco (12-11). JSerra ends its season with a two-game series against Servite.

Mater Dei defeated Santa Margarita to stay tied with Orange Lutheran.

In a nonleague doubleheader, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated West Covina by scores of 4-2 and 11-6. Matt Lathuras hit for the cycle in the second game. Connor Garelick and Nick Picollo each hit home runs.
