A two-run home run by Joel Atkinson in the second inning has given San Clemente a 2-1 lead over No. 2 seed Simi Valley Royal in a Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinal playoff game at San Clemente.

Royal’s Billy Conard had given his team a 1-0 lead with a second-inning home run. Cody Buckel of Royal has struck out four in three innings.

Placentia El Dorado leads No. 1 seed Orange Lutheran, 2-0, in the third inning.
