Track and field: Misfortune in 4x100 relays

It was not a good day for a pair of Southland teams in the 4x100 relays in preliminary qualifying heats at the state track meet at Clovis Buchanan High.

The Gardena Serra girls, who entered the meet with the second-fastest time in the nation this year, did not advance to Saturday’s finals after Alexis Faulknor suffered a quadriceps injury on the first leg and limped to make the baton exchange.

The Dorsey boys, who were the Los Angeles City Section champions in the event, were disqualified when Cleshawn Page was penalized for a false start.
