Left-hander Aaron Brown of Chatsworth is considered a good professional prospect as a hitter, but he showed Wednesday he also can pitch. With his fastball reaching the low 90s, Brown struck out nine and threw a three-hitter to help Chatsworth defeat Valencia West Ranch, 1-0, in a semifinal game of the VIBL playoffs.

Chatsworth will play Moorpark in Friday’s 7 p.m. final at Birmingham. Moorpark defeated Woodland Hills El Camino Real, 5-2, in the other semifinal.

Chatsworth’s only run came in the second inning on an error. JC Cloney and Ryan Keller pitched well for West Ranch, but with wood bats being used, Brown was in complete control, aided by solid fielding.

Update: Moorpark won the championship with a 2-1 win over Chatsworth.
