Football: Lots of scrimmages on Friday

Lots of teams will be holding scrimmages on Friday.

One intriguing scrimmage involves Mission Hills Alemany hosting Newhall Hart at 6:30 p.m. That matches Alemany, coached by Dean Herrington and middle brother Rick Herrington, going against Hart, coached by oldest brother Mike Herrington.

‘We don’t shake hands,’ Mike said.

I believe he was joking, but don’t think the Herrington brothers don’t want to beat each other.

Of course, the score won’t matter for a scrimmage. Both schools are preparing for tough season openers. Alemany faces Westlake Village Oaks Christian at Oaks Christian on Sept. 3 and Hart gets Woodland HIlls El Camino Real at Birmingham.

On Saturday, Los Angeles Loyola will host Santa Ana Mater Dei in a 5 p.m. scrimmage.
