The easiest prediction for City Section football this season is that Woodland Hills Taft will cruise to the West Valley League championship. The Toreadors defeated neighborhood rival El Camino Real, 38-0, using their backup quarterback. Taft can go engrave a plaque: West Valley champs 2010.

But figuring out which team will finish second behind the Toreadors is pure guessing. Granada Hills suffered a blow when standout junior running back Jacob Smith was ruled academically ineligible, which didn’t help in a 16-15 loss to Reseda Cleveland.

Birmingham, which beat Cleveland two weeks ago, lost to Chatsworth, a baseball school, 14-8.

So good luck projecting second place.
